Why This Blog
I first started blogging in 2006 after the birth of my son Kaleb, as an outlet for my creativity and to share our lives with family and friends. It has since evolved to so much more - still an outlet for my creativity and a home for treasured moments with my family but also a sanctuary, a best friend, a place for my hopes, dreams and desires.
Inspiration, for me, comes from the beauty of life... a sleepy hug with my son, the 'perfect' cup of tea, how sunshine reflects on a breaking wave at the beach or trying on a pair of new shoes for the first time.
Then life as I knew it changed. In February last year Kaleb was diagnosed with Autism. Overcome with shock, I felt sure that my world was caving in.
How grateful I was to be proven wrong. Between the support and love of family and friends, early interventions and some hardcore reflection, I have come to realise that, yes, I may have arrived in Holland, but I'll have the time of my life while I'm here and I will make it to Italy some day.
I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life. I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn. I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel

I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia with my son Kaleb (and my parents Leanne and John, sister Demii and brother Jaiden just around the corner). After years of procrastination, I'm now studying Nursing from home which gives me chances to explore other interests in life that include my home knitting business, photography, and scrapbooking--my work having been selected for publication this year in 'Scrapbook Creations' magazine.
In no particular order, my 'loves' are taking beach walks with Kaleb, searching for the perfect photo opportunity, outings with my mother, hot chocolate with marshmallows, singing loudly to my favourite song, accidentally driving through cute little towns, lazy gardening and planning the ultimate family holiday.
The world is a wonderfully big place, and I love having thousands of amazing people right at my fingertips. They inspire me in unimaginable ways, and I can only hope to inspire others in some fashion. We're all connected to a vibrant pool of creativity that nourishes and sustains us.
